Former Foster City Little League standout Scott Ota made big news on Tuesday, June 4 when he was selected by the New York Mets in the 10th round of the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft.

Ota, who last played in the FCLL in 2010, went on to star at Junipero Serra High School, earning West Catholic League MVP honors as a senior when he batted .489 with 12 doubles and 3 triples.

Following high school, he attended the University of Illinois Chicago, where the left-handed hitting outfielder busted out as a fourth-year senior. He led the Flames offensively with a .356 batting average and 19 home runs, the most homers anyone has hit in a single season in the Horizon League since 2000.

Congratulations to Scott and the entire Ota family!
